It’s not very often where I look at The Man Booker Prize and find myself adding the vast majority of the books to my wish list but that was most definitely the case this year. I don’t envy the judges the decision to pick the winner one bit, but I imagine they’ve made a fantastic choice in Milkman by Anna Burns.
Opening this book wasn’t that much of a surprise- I guessed that this would probably be buried somewhere in the pile and I am glad to find that that is the case. Milkman has intrigued me since it was released as a shortlisted book, let alone the winner of the entire Man Booker Prize for 2018, so I’m excited to see what this one is all about. I don’t really know much about it and in all honesty, the blurb doesn’t give all that much away so I think this one will be a case of ‘I have no idea what this book is about’ until I actually take the time to sit down and read it. I must admit, I am way too excited to read Milkman.
Milkman by Anna Burns will be my Book of the Month for May 2019.
