Having to wait until later this evening to open up the second book in my little homemade advent calendar was tough, but boy, was it worth the wait! As I said in my original post, the books chosen were from a list I have put together myself over the last few months so the books on the list are books that I actually want to read personally. Today’s book is probably the book that I wanted the most out of all the books on my list: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
The Nightingale has been on my radar for so long, with a friend of mine actually recommending it to me just last week. The story follows two very different sisters in the midst of the Second World War – whilst different in personality and lifestyle, they are united in their bravery and seemingly, their resistance efforts. World War fiction is one of my favourite genres and I must admit that I’ve been running out of recently written contributions to the genre so this one will be a welcome addition to my reading pile. The Nightingale will be my book of the month for February 2019.
