Spoiling my mum is one of my favourite things to do and if I could afford to, I’d be treating her every single week of the year. Unfortunately that’s not always financially viable so taking the time on Mothering Sunday to show my appreciation is something I get a lot of joy out of doing. I appreciate just how lucky I am to still have my mum in my life and taking a few minutes out of my day – and a few pounds out of my bank account – to do this is something I really love. With this all said and done, I appreciate that sometimes it’s difficult to come up with a gift that goes beyond the normal bouquet of flowers. I love buying my mum flowers and I do every year without fail, but if you’re looking for something a little bit different this Mother’s Day then I’ve got you covered – with a week to spare.
At the start of the month, the team at Snappysnaps got in touch with me to see if I wanted to collaborate on a Mother’s Day post. I ordered a wee personalised photo mug off the website with my mother in mind. A photo from my graduation of my brother and me is one of my favourites so it was that picture that first came to mind. The entire ordering experience was a really positive one – the mug itself came boxed up and was carefully packaged to make sure it didn’t get broken en route. I know that my mum will love having her morning cuppa in this mug – the perfect gift for a sentimental mum.
If mugs aren’t really your cup of tea (pun intended), a good friend of mine owns her own Etsy store and the stuff she makes is cute beyond words. I’ve bought stuff from her before – including the most amazing blogger kit bag and some gorgeous prints for my office- and i have absolutely no doubt that her Mother’s Day inspired tote bags will be just as high quality. Lydia’s totes are beautiful and can be personalised to include your Mum’s name and some of the qualities that make her, her. Perfect for environmentally conscious mother’s or else someone who needs to be reminded about their fantastic qualities that make them superb.
Sweet treats are so naughty but are a perfect little touch for Mother’s Day – particularly if your mum has a sweet tooth as well. A girl I went to school with does amazing cupcakes and brownie trays made to order but for those who live outside of East Lancashire – which is the vast majority of my readers- I’ve got you covered here. If brownies are your treat of choice then Emily’s Kitchen Bakes has an amazing selection of trays for you to feast on. My choice would definitely be the White Chocolate Blondies with Biscoff, but there are plenty of different flavours available on her Etsy page. If you eat a vegan diet then Scrummy Crumb Vegan also has tray bakes suited to you.
Not everyone’s idea of a sweet treat is cake so there are so many choices for sweet lovers as well – I personally love the look of these sweet hampers from Harlie Loves and I know that my sweet toothed mum would also enjoy them.
New Mums or Mums to Be
Being the age that I am, a lot of my friends and people I know have started their own families – this particular section is directed at their clueless partners. It doesn’t matter if you’re a mother of a 4 year old, a mother of a newborn or else currently pregnant – mother’s day is important and you should be being honoured. My Seaside Prints makes beautiful watercolour inspired prints of baby scans – making them look much less creepy than they are when they’re taken by a sonographer. New mums might need a little pick me up after all of their sleepless nights so I’ve picked out these teeny tiny personalised bottles of wine for a much needed baby free chill night.
